You must be 18 years of age or older to use TeeMates. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in Alberta, Canada.
If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, we will terminate that account immediately and delete all associated data, as required by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and applicable federal law.
TeeMates is rated 17+ on the Apple App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact privacy@teemates.ca immediately.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account: choose a strong password, do not share your credentials, and notify us at security@teemates.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account. Impersonating another person or creating fake profiles is grounds for immediate suspension.
To help keep the community authentic, we may require you to verify a phone number via a one-time SMS code before posting or joining tee times. Your phone number is never shown to other golfers and is never used for marketing.
TeeMates is a social golf community. To keep it that way, you agree not to:
This is not an exhaustive list. We may remove content or take action on any behavior that we determine — at our sole discretion — to be harmful to the community.
TeeMates is not a gambling platform. We do not facilitate, process, monitor, or profit from any wagering, betting, or gambling activity between users.
TeeMates includes a "gambling preference" toggle in user profiles. This field is purely a social indicator — it signals whether a golfer is open to casual, friend-to-friend wagering (e.g., a $2 Nassau) during a round. It is not an offer to bet, not a betting platform, and not a mechanism for placing or settling wagers.
Any wagering that occurs between users is solely between those individuals, is entirely outside the scope of TeeMates, and is not processed, tracked, or facilitated by the app. TeeMates does not:
Users are responsible for ensuring any social wagering complies with applicable laws. In Alberta, informal betting between friends (e.g., a Nassau bet on a golf round) is generally permitted under social gambling exemptions in the Criminal Code of Canada (§206) and the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act (Alberta), provided it is not conducted as a business. TeeMates assumes no responsibility for users' wagering activities.
TeeMates provides direct messaging (DM) and group chat (squad chat) features to help golfers coordinate rounds and communicate. You are solely responsible for the content of your messages.
Harassment, threats, or unwanted advances via direct messages are strictly prohibited. You can block any user at any time via Settings → Blocked Users. Blocked users cannot send you messages or see your profile.
Direct messages are retained while your account is active. Squad chat messages associated with a tee time are deleted within 3 days after the tee time concludes. See our Privacy Policy for full retention details.
While we do not actively monitor private messages, we reserve the right to review message content if a user reports a conversation for harassment, threats, or other violations of these Terms. We may also be compelled to disclose messages in response to a valid legal order.
TeeMates allows users to upload profile photos, post tee times, and send chat messages. You are solely responsible for all content you post.
You retain ownership of the content you post on TeeMates (chat messages, profile photos, tee time descriptions). By posting, you grant TeeMates a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and modify that content for the purpose of operating the service.
You can delete your content at any time. Deleted content is removed from public view immediately and from our systems within 30 days, except for content retained for legal or moderation reasons.
If you believe someone has posted your copyrighted material on TeeMates, contact legal@teemates.ca with a description of the work, the URL of the infringing content, and your contact information. We will respond to valid takedown requests within 48 hours, as required by applicable Canadian copyright law.
If you see something that violates these Terms, report it:
Our commitment: we will review every report within 24 hours and take appropriate action. Possible actions include:
We will notify you by email or in-app notification when your report has been reviewed and acted on. We do not always disclose the specific action taken, to protect the privacy of the reported user.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine — at our sole discretion — that you've violated these Terms or harmed the TeeMates community. Repeated violations of community standards, fraud, harassment, or harm to other users will typically result in permanent termination.
When your account is suspended, you cannot post tee times, send messages, or participate in the community for the duration of the suspension. When your account is terminated, your profile and content are removed per the data-retention policy in our Privacy Policy.
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you can appeal by emailing appeals@teemates.ca within 14 days of the action. Include your username and a brief description of why you believe the decision was incorrect. We will review and respond within 7 days.
Appeals are reviewed by a different person than the one who issued the original action, where practical.
TeeMates connects golfers but is not the booking provider for the actual tee time at the course. You and the host are responsible for honoring your commitment: showing up on time, paying any course fees directly to the course, and following course rules. TeeMates is not liable for disputes between users about course fees, no-shows, or in-round behavior.
If a user no-shows or behaves unsafely, you can file a report through the Tribunal feature (in-game incidents) or general report flow (general violations).
TeeMates is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of user-posted information, or compatibility with every device. Use TeeMates at your own discretion.
TeeMates does not verify the identity, golf ability, or background of users. We do not conduct background checks. Users participate in tee times and communicate at their own risk.
To the extent permitted by law, TeeMates and Cognalith Labs Inc. are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of CAD $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
